It was not the result she was expecting (even her opponent seems a tad surprised!) but Mary Kom lost in the semis and settled for bronze at the world championships. BUT! With this 8th medal, she has officially beaten the record held by Cuban icon Félix Savón, and now has the MOST WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP MEDALS IN THE HISTORY of amateur boxing. A pretty nice consolation prize. And Tokyo 2020 is still on the horizon…
